Easter

We started off the Easter weekend with a neighborhood hunt at North High Mount.  Zoe and her friend Will hunted eggs together and were oh so cute together.  We may or may not be planning their future wedding...I mean, isn't he the cutest thing with those curls?!?

she didn't really know what to think of the Easter bunny...

but the popcorn was awesome!

We went to church with Mom and Dad and then back to the lake for an Easter egg hunt.

 and the hunt was on!
 and now we're over it.

and we ended the day with a little backyard concert session....always a winner!

Aunt Nolan comes to Texas!

My bestie from college, Nolan, came to visit us the other weekend.  She flew all the way in from Baltimore and god bless her, she even brought some Maryland crab cakes with her.  We had the best time...got to go see my folks, got to hit up gallery night which I always enjoy, and got to see my best friend bond with my daughter which was truly priceless.  Zoe fell in love with her Aunt Nols just like I knew she would.  It was so fun to see them together, but only made me wish Nolan lived closer so we could hang out more often!

a little makeup lesson from Nolan....if you only knew how many times I was the one in college having Nolan teach me a thing or two about the art of a successful makeup application!

playing with the Ipad...Nolan knew the way to her heart!

 pure gorgeousness!

at the FW Community Arts Center for spring gallery night

I love this girl so much!

FWSSR

Took Zoe and Ethan to the Stockshow on Thursday and then went to the Rodeo with the fam. Zoe loved seeing all the animals.....she kept saying "moo, moo- look at all the cows!" She was still a little too young for the midway rides- only one carnie let us on a ride, but Ethan was tall enough and had a blast.

 how cute are they?!?

Dad got to see Whiplash the monkey....great night!

Family golf outing

So we've had a rough past couple of weeks.  My dad got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, stage 4.  It is a horrible, horrible disease and we all have been working through a litany of various emotions as you can imagine.  It is inoperable, and terminal, but he is about to start chemo, which will hopefully buy us some time to get in some more moments like the ones below.  The bucket list has started: and we started it off with a bang.  Got the whole gang together for golf at Colonial the other day.  The kids had a blast and the look on my dad's face was priceless.  Surprisingly, we all made it 9 holes and made some great memories in the process.  We love you so much Daddy!

this might be my new favorite picture of my dad!

Zoe had to keep the scoring legit, of course

and a new favorite of my mom too!

Next on the list: the Fort Worth Rodeo and then hopefully Opening Day of the Rangers....anyone have a Rangers hookup that could help us out in that department?!?

We have a 2 year old!

How is that possible?  Probably the only good advice that any parent will give someone who is about to have a baby is "blink and they'll be going off to college....they'll grow up before your very eyes."  Cliche but oh how true this is....we can't get over how our baby girl is turning into this tiny adult.  Talking up a storm, forming sentences, realizing that we have to watch what we say because she really does listen and can understand pretty much every word.  It is all so exciting.  To think that she went from this....

to this......

 UNREAL!!!

Some of Zoe's favorite things right now: applesauce (aka pureed fruit in a pouch), yogurt, any movie with a princess in it (still loves Nemo and Shrek although the princesses are quickly gaining a lead), reading books- sometimes she even prefers to "read" them to herself and will go through the entire shelf, reciting her ABCs and singing Twinkle Twinkle or Row your Boat.  She loves twirling and dancing and music, but don't you dare sing over her or she'll say "STOP Mommy!"  Her official stats are 27 lbs, 0.5 oz(55%), 33.5 inches (50%), and head 47.5 cm (50%).  So she's not quite the chunky monkey she used to be....doctor said she's probably leveled out a bit but don't be surprised if she goes through another growth spurt.

Here are a few more pics from her princess party.  We had just a small family affair- she loved playing dress up with her cousins and thought blowing out the candle was the coolest thing ever.

the bubble party favors were a big hit!

I think Christmas definitely broke her in as far as gift opening went....she was a champ!

 this look cracks me up!

Happy Birthday Zoe....we love you!!!!
